Health Customer Service Representative

Role of the Job

As a Health Customer Service Representative, you’ll be the primary point of contact for plan participants, client contacts, and providers. Your goal will be to provide clear and accurate responses to requests for information, document calls, and assist team members as needed.

Main Responsibilities

  • Answer telephone calls from plan participants, group contacts, and providers
  • Provide clear and accurate responses to requests for information
  • Document all calls into Chronolog for future referral
  • Return messages left in designated voice mailboxes
  • Read and interpret plan documents for numerous clients
  • Meet personally with clients as necessary to assist with questions pertaining to their health benefit plan
  • Assist team members as requested
  • Log faxed claims and return misdirected claims to appropriate provider

Qualification Needed

  • High school graduation or GED required
  • Basic computer and customer service experience required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • PC skills, including Windows, Word, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Typing ability of 45 wpm net
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic health insurance concepts
