This remote job is based in the USA, but ACLED welcomes applicants from any country. The ideal candidate will be able to work during European time zone hours to align with the core hours of the External Affairs team.

Role of the Job

The Associate Social Media Officer will support the Senior Social Media Officer in executing ACLED’s social media strategy. This role requires a creative and detail-oriented individual who can distill complex data and analysis into engaging content for various social media platforms.

Main Responsibilities

  • Generate content and schedule posts across ACLED’s social media channels, including Twitter/X, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram.
  • Create visual assets for social media using Canva, including graphic cards, short videos, GIFs, and other multimedia materials.
  • Track and analyze social media engagement, reach, and impact for and external reporting.
  • Monitor relevant conversations, study audience behavior, and engage with comments, mentions, and messages across platforms.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Senior Social Media Officer and occasional ad hoc support to the wider External Affairs team.
  • Maintain the organization of ACLED’s digital assets in Google Photos and Google Drive.

Qualification Needed

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree Communications, Journalism, or Social Sciences)
  • At least one year of relevant experience in social media management, content creation, or digital communications
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, collaborate, and work independently
  • Good judgment, strong organizational and planning skills, and close attention to detail.
