About the Role
Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust is recruiting a Housekeeping Services Assistant to provide a professional cleaning and housekeeping service across its healthcare facilities.
The successful candidate will work alongside clinical and non-clinical colleagues to help maintain high standards of cleanliness and contribute to a positive environment for patients and staff.
Full training, support and guidance will be provided.
Working Hours
The role is for 24 hours per week, working:
- Monday: 08:00–14:30
- Tuesday: 08:00–14:30
- Thursday: 08:00–14:30
- Friday: 08:00–14:30
There is a 30-minute unpaid break during each shift.
The Trust states that working arrangements will be considered in line with the Working Time Regulations.
Main Responsibilities
Duties will include providing a comprehensive cleaning service in line with NHS cleanliness standards, schedules and procedures.
The successful candidate may work across community hospitals, inpatient settings, health centres, clinics and administrative areas.
Responsibilities include:
- Cleaning bathrooms, kitchens, wards, clinics, theatres and office areas.
- Carrying out general housekeeping duties.
- Using cleaning machines and following specialised cleaning procedures.
- Maintaining the cleanliness of healthcare environments in accordance with infection-control requirements.
- Working alongside clinical and infection-control teams.
- Reporting information that could affect clinical or non-clinical services.
- Following the Trust’s cleaning schedules and procedures.
The role offers variety, with duties tailored to the requirements of individual services and patient care.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Previous experience of cleaning in an employed capacity.
- The ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Relevant practical experience and/or a relevant qualification.
Desirable: Previous experience of working in a clinical cleaning environment.

The position offers £25,272 per year pro rata, equivalent to £12.92 per hour.
