Job Description

The successful candidate will create, evaluate, update and review content throughout the user journey on GOV.UK and other digital platforms.

This is a practical content design role that combines technical publishing skills with a user-centred approach. You will help ensure that published information is clear, consistent, accessible and effective in helping people understand services, policies and guidance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating and improving guidance and organisational information content.
  • Reviewing existing content and identifying opportunities to make it clearer and more accessible.
  • Working with policy teams, stakeholders and regional colleagues to understand user needs.
  • Applying content design principles, style guidelines and accessibility standards.
  • Supporting efficient and consistent publishing in line with Government Digital Service standards.
  • Resolving complex publishing issues and helping colleagues improve their content.
  • Using evidence, data and research to inform content decisions.
  • Contributing to the wider cross-government content design community.

You will support strategic programmes and projects, including the National Housing Bank, the Social and Affordable Homes Programme, the Cladding Safety Scheme and the Capital Funding Guide.

Experience with Whitehall Publisher CMS is required for this role, which focuses on guidance and organisational information rather than service screens.
