About the Role
As a Recovery Support Worker, you will work within an established substance misuse service at HMP Gartree.
You will support service users with their recovery plans by delivering evidence-based interventions in both group and one-to-one settings.
The role includes managing a caseload, providing psychosocial support and contributing to recovery-focused interventions. You will also work closely with clinical prescribing services and other professionals in a multidisciplinary and custodial environment.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Organising and facilitating substance misuse groupwork programmes within the establishment.
- Accepting referrals, assessing needs and prioritising service users for group interventions.
- Providing harm reduction information and support relating to safer drug use, safer sex, HIV, hepatitis A, B and C, and other blood-borne infections.
- Managing an appropriate caseload and undertaking key-worker responsibilities.
- Completing comprehensive assessments when required.
- Working with multidisciplinary colleagues to develop and review care packages and care plans.
- Managing onward referrals where appropriate.
- Supporting service-user involvement and contributing to service-user projects.
- Helping to recruit, manage, supervise and train recovery champions and mentors.
- Supporting the development of the lived-experience network.
- Working with relevant professionals to address safeguarding and mental health needs.
- Maintaining accurate case notes and reports.
- Supporting the Under the Influence Pathway.
- Delivering low-, medium- and high-intensity interventions according to individual needs.

Working Environment
The position is based within the custodial environment of HMP Gartree and forms part of Inclusion’s substance misuse services.
You will work alongside healthcare, clinical and other professional teams to provide an integrated drug and alcohol recovery service.
