Somerset Council is recruiting experienced Family Safeguarding Social Workers to support its ambitious transformation of Children’s Services through the Families First Partnership Programme.

Job Responsibilities
As a Family Safeguarding Social Worker, you will:
- Conduct child-centred assessments of need and risk.
- Safeguard children and young people.
- Build positive relationships with children and families.
- Manage a varied social work caseload.
- Develop and review care plans.
- Complete statutory assessments and risk assessments.
- Work collaboratively with education, health, police and housing professionals.
- Prepare reports for court proceedings and statutory meetings.
- Maintain accurate case records.
- Promote equality, diversity and children’s rights.
- Participate in duty work, supervision and continuous professional development.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should have:
- A recognised Social Work qualification (or equivalent).
- Registration with Social Work England.
- Experience working within children’s social care.
- Knowledge of UK social care legislation and safeguarding practice.
- Experience working with multi-agency teams.
- Excellent communication and report writing skills.
- Strong IT skills.
- Ability to manage complex safeguarding situations.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Access to a personal vehicle.
Desirable Skills
Candidates with the following will have an advantage:
- Knowledge of recent government guidance and legislative updates.
- Supervisory experience.
- Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD).
- Reflective social work practice.
Visa Sponsorship Information
Somerset Council may offer Skilled Worker visa sponsorship to suitably qualified overseas social workers.
