Salary: £45,749 – £49,866 per year (+ London Weighting of £5,951 pro-rata where applicable)

About the Role
The Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (Cafcass) is recruiting a Senior Analyst (BI & Analytics Developer) to support one of the largest transformation programmes within England’s Family Justice System.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in developing data architecture, business intelligence solutions, and advanced analytics that support the Private Law Reform Programme, helping to deliver child-focused courts across England.
This is a highly technical, hands-on position focused on designing, building, and maintaining scalable data and reporting solutions rather than producing business insights alone.
Key Responsibilities
As the Senior Analyst, you will:
- Design and develop end-to-end data solutions from source systems through reporting.
- Build and optimise SQL data pipelines and transformations.
- Develop high-performance Power BI dashboards and reports.
- Create robust data models using DAX.
- Apply advanced Excel techniques for modelling and validation.
- Integrate data from multiple systems while maintaining governance and quality.
- Automate reporting processes and analytical workflows.
- Analyse complex datasets to identify trends, risks, and performance issues.
- Provide technical leadership on BI architecture and reporting solutions.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should demonstrate:
- 5+ years of experience in BI development, data analytics, or similar technical roles.
- Advanced SQL development skills.
- Strong Power BI expertise, including DAX.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience across the complete data lifecycle.
- Strong knowledge of data modelling and architecture.
- Experience building automated reporting solutions.
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric or similar technologies.
- Understanding of Microsoft AI technologies including Copilot, Power Platform, or AI Builder.
- Ability to translate complex operational requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Desirable
- Public sector experience.
- Experience within the Family Justice System.
- Experience supporting major transformation programmes.
