What You Will Do
As a Relief Worker – Care Assistant, you will provide practical and personal support to residents according to their individual support plans.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing direct personal care to customers.
- Supporting residents with showering, shaving, toileting and personal hygiene.
- Helping customers with dressing, bedtime and morning routines.
- Supporting customers with continence management.
- Safely assisting customers with mobility difficulties.
- Using assessed mobility aids and manual handling equipment.
- Administering and supporting medication where required.
- Preparing meals, snacks and drinks.
- Supporting customers with light household duties such as cleaning, laundry and ironing.
- Helping customers manage aspects of their personal affairs where included in their support plans.
- Reading letters and assisting with utilities or small amounts of shopping money when required.
- Building positive and trusted relationships with customers.
- Communicating with families, friends, GPs, social workers and other members of a customer’s support network.
- Providing companionship and encouraging social interaction.
- Encouraging customers to participate in community and social activities.
- Maintaining a safe, comfortable and respectful living environment.
- Keeping accurate records of care, medication and other support provided.
- Reporting concerns about customers’ wellbeing, behaviour or care to management.
- Recognising and reporting signs of abuse in accordance with safeguarding procedures.
- Recording complaints and explaining the complaints procedure to customers.
