Technical Support Officer – Liverpool City Council

Liverpool City Council is recruiting a Technical Support Officer to join its Planning and Building Control Service in Liverpool. This is a 6-month fixed-term, full-time position focused on data capture, data cleansing, technical administration and supporting planning and building control functions.

The role offers a salary of £28,153 to £32,046 per year, with 35 hours per week and an agile, fully flexible working arrangement.

Important: This is not an ICT job, despite the job title. The position is focused on technical and administrative support within the Planning and Building Control Service.

About the Role

The Technical Support Officer will work within Liverpool City Council’s Planning and Building Control Service as part of a skilled technical support team.

The initial six-month project will involve working across several in-house systems to capture, analyse, cleanse and interpret data. The successful candidate will also provide administrative and technical support to help the service operate efficiently and deliver a customer-focused service.

The team plays an important role in validating and processing planning and building control applications, land charge enquiries and other functions across the service.

This is a customer-focused position supporting the Council’s aim of providing a modern and business-friendly planning service.

Key Responsibilities

The Technical Support Officer will be expected to:

  • Capture and maintain data across relevant Council systems.
  • Analyse, cleanse and interpret data accurately.
  • Provide technical and administrative support to the service.
  • Work flexibly across different functions undertaken by the team.
  • Support the validation and processing of planning and building control applications.
  • Assist with land charge enquiries.
  • Help maintain an effective, efficient and customer-focused service.
  • Complete work within required timescales.
  • Contribute to the wider objectives of the Planning and Building Control Service.

Requirements / Person Specification

Applicants should have demonstrable knowledge and experience relevant to a technical support and administrative environment.

The role requires:

  • Knowledge and competencies associated with NVQ Level 3 in Administration or Business Studies.
  • Proven experience of working in a busy office environment.
  • Ability to work accurately with data.
  • Experience or ability to undertake data capture and data cleansing.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret information.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly across different service functions.
  • A customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to work effectively within required timescales.

Working Pattern

This is a full-time, fixed-term role working 35 hours per week.

The contract is initially for six months and has been created for limited specialist project work. The contract will end six months after the successful candidate’s start date.

The role is based at the Cunard Building, Water Street, Liverpool, with an agile and fully flexible office basis.

Visa / Right-to-Work

Liverpool City Council states that eligibility to work in the UK will be checked during the final stages of recruitment.
