Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Mental Health Practitioner to join the South Manchester and Trafford Mental Health Liaison Team.
This is a 12-month fixed-term, full-time position covering maternity leave. The successful candidate will work within the 24-hour All-Age Liaison Mental Health Service, based across Wythenshawe and Trafford.
The role is open to qualified Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers and Occupational Therapists who hold current UK professional registration.

£39,959 to £48,117 per year, pro rata

Additional pay enhancements include:
- 30% enhancement for evenings from 8pm onwards and Saturdays
- 60% enhancement for Sundays and Bank Holidays

Main Responsibilities
The Mental Health Practitioner will help coordinate and prioritise the clinical workload arising from referrals to the Liaison Mental Health Service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out timely mental health assessments for people presenting to Accident and Emergency and general hospital services
- Providing specialist mental health advice to hospital professionals
- Developing care plans with service users and relevant stakeholders
- Liaising with statutory and non-statutory agencies and care providers
- Supporting autonomous discharge where appropriate
- Managing and leading the service when the team leader is unavailable, where appropriate
- Contributing to education and training for general hospital and Accident and Emergency staff
Essential Requirements
Applicants should have:
- A relevant professional qualification
- Current UK professional registration
- Experience and understanding of mental health and dual diagnosis
- Experience of working in acute mental health services
Desirable Experience
The Trust would also welcome applicants with:
- Experience working in a liaison setting
- Post-qualification experience working with complex mental health needs
