About the Role
Somerset Council is recruiting a Technical Support Assistant Apprentice to join its Property Service team in Shepton Mallet.
The Property Service helps manage and maintain a wide range of council buildings across Somerset, including schools, ensuring they remain safe, effective and fit for the communities they serve.
This apprenticeship offers an opportunity to earn while learning and gain practical experience within a busy property team. You will work alongside experienced colleagues while developing skills in finance, administration and data management.
Key Responsibilities
As a Technical Support Assistant Apprentice, you will:
- Assist with financial and administrative processes supporting the delivery of property services.
- Help maintain accurate records, systems and information.
- Respond to enquiries from colleagues, schools, contractors and suppliers.
- Help produce reports and manage data relating to council properties.
- Contribute to service improvements and help the team work efficiently.
What You’ll Bring
Applicants should have:
- The ability to apply mathematical principles, including calculations and percentages.
- A positive attitude and enthusiasm for learning new skills.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workloads effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Confidence communicating with different people and providing good customer service.
- Basic IT skills and a willingness to learn new systems and software.
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above, or equivalent qualifications.
Apprenticeship Qualification
As part of the role, you will complete a Level 3 Accountancy Apprenticeship with Accountancy Learning.
Study will mainly be delivered virtually, allowing you to combine your qualification with practical workplace experience. Some in-person meetings may be required at County Hall in Taunton or at locations specified by the training provider.
The apprenticeship provides the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification while developing experience in administration, finance, customer service and data management.
