Ofgem is recruiting a Reporting Analyst to support workforce reporting, people analytics and evidence-based decision-making. This permanent opportunity is suitable for candidates with experience analysing complex datasets, producing HR or workforce reports, and developing dashboards using tools such as Excel and Power BI.

Salary and Benefits

The advertised salary depends on the successful candidate’s location:

  • London: £38,021–£48,561 per year.
  • National: £35,232–£45,831 per year.

The role includes access to the Civil Service pension scheme, with an advertised employer contribution of 28.97%.

About the Role

Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator, responsible for helping protect energy consumers while supporting the transition to a sustainable energy system.

The successful candidate will join the People Operations team, where workforce data and analytical insight help inform organisational decisions, workforce planning and improvements to people services.

You will work with colleagues and senior stakeholders across the People Function, turning complex workforce information into meaningful reports and recommendations. The role also involves improving reporting processes, maintaining data quality and supporting HR systems administration.

This position is suited to someone who combines strong analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to communicate findings clearly to non-technical audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate and timely workforce reports, management information, dashboards and analysis to support strategic and operational decisions.
  • Analyse people data to identify trends, risks and opportunities that inform workforce planning, policy development and service improvements.
  • Maintain data quality, governance and compliance, ensuring workforce information is accurate and audit-ready.
  • Improve reporting systems and processes through automation, dashboard optimisation and other efficiency improvements.
  • Work with People Operations, Senior People Partners and Service Enablement Hubs to provide analytical advice and communicate findings.
  • Promote good practice in workforce analytics, data integrity and reporting across the People Function.
  • Provide additional HR systems administration support to maintain service continuity.
  • Act as a Data Steward for designated workforce datasets, overseeing data quality, consistent definitions and the resolution of data issues.
  • Work with HR Systems Administrators and operational teams to ensure workforce data is used consistently in reports, dashboards and statutory returns.

  • Proven ability to interpret and analyse complex datasets.
  • Experience designing, producing and maintaining workforce reports and dashboards in an HR, People Services or comparable environment.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Power BI or similar reporting platforms.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining data quality.
  • Ability to explain complex information clearly and concisely to non-technical audiences.
  • A professional qualification in data analytics, HR analytics or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

The ability to analyse complex datasets and experience producing workforce reports and dashboards are the two lead criteria for this vacancy.

Desirable Experience

The following would be advantageous:

  • Knowledge of data visualisation best practices.
  • Understanding of Civil Service HR policies.
  • Familiarity with workforce planning frameworks and reporting standards.
