Desirable qualifications:

  • SDI Service Desk Analyst qualification.
  • MCSA, MCSE or an equivalent certification.

Essential Experience and Technical Skills

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Experience in an IT department, particularly desktop support, deployment or second-line service desk support.
  • Strong customer service and technical fault-resolution skills.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Office products and web-based applications.
  • Knowledge of hardware, software and operating system troubleshooting.
  • Experience with remote support technologies such as SCCM and Citrix.
  • Experience troubleshooting Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 and Microsoft Office 2016 or later.
  • Basic networking knowledge, including LAN, WAN, VPN and VoIP.
  • An understanding of service-level agreements and incident priorities.

Experience working in an NHS organisation, a large organisation or a busy office environment is desirable.

Personal Skills and Other Requirements

The successful candidate should have excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to colleagues at different levels.

You should also be able to manage competing priorities, work independently, meet deadlines and remain calm and flexible in a busy support environment.

The role requires participation in a rota covering core support hours of 8 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays. The person specification also refers to possible out-of-hours, weekend and public-holiday duties, an on-call rota and travel to Trust-managed sites.

Applicants must be able to move computer equipment around the Trust. A driving licence and car ownership are desirable rather than listed as essential.
