About Maximus
Maximus is a global organisation providing health and employment services to millions of people each year. In the UK, around 5,000 employees deliver services including assessments, health services, employability programmes and specialist support.
About the Role
Maximus is looking for an experienced delivery professional to bring structure, pace and accountability to its Business Intelligence (BI) portfolio.
The BI Delivery & Operations Lead will coordinate multiple BI priorities, support realistic planning and commitments, manage competing demands and help ensure high-quality outcomes for operational stakeholders.
The role will involve owning delivery plans, supporting prioritisation and governance, managing risks and dependencies, and providing clear progress updates to senior stakeholders.
Working across Data, Technology and operational teams, the successful candidate will help resolve delivery obstacles, challenge unrealistic expectations and support recovery when work moves off plan.
The role also includes leadership of the BI Administration team and supporting the reliable operation of business-critical reporting services. This is primarily a delivery and operations role rather than a hands-on BI development position.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain delivery plans and track progress against agreed milestones.
- Identify and escalate delivery risks, issues and slippage.
- Support the smooth day-to-day operation of BI services.
- Monitor operational activities, incidents and risks and follow agreed escalation processes.
- Help maintain continuity of service and minimise disruption.
- Provide visibility of delivery performance, operational health, risks and trends.
- Maintain and apply the BI operating model and standard operating procedures.
- Allocate day-to-day tasks to BI Administrators and clarify priorities.
- Support planning, prioritisation and capacity management.
- Maintain delivery trackers, capacity views and status updates.
- Apply agreed delivery frameworks and ways of working.
- Support governance, reporting and assurance requirements.
- Identify recurring operational issues and improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate delivery across technical and non-technical teams.
- Support continuous improvement across delivery and operational processes.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Proven experience supporting end-to-end delivery of data, BI or digital initiatives.
- Experience in a delivery, operations or programme role within a complex organisation.
- Experience working within a PMO or delivery management function using agile methodologies.
- Strong planning, prioritisation and capacity-management skills.
- Experience applying Agile, hybrid or structured delivery frameworks.
- Experience managing incidents, risks, dependencies and service continuity.
- Experience leading or coordinating operational teams or support functions.
- Strong stakeholder communication and expectation-management skills.
- Ability to identify delivery inefficiencies and improve processes or ways of working.
- Experience with delivery and workflow tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps or similar.
- Experience supporting multi-team or cross-functional delivery.
Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous:
- Experience working within Business Intelligence, Data or Analytics teams.
- Understanding of the BI lifecycle, dependencies and operational challenges.
- Exposure to product-based delivery and product roadmaps.
- Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with BI platform operations, including reporting schedules, data refreshes, dependencies and access models.
- Relevant delivery, project or service-management qualifications such as Agile, Scrum, PRINCE2 or ITIL, or equivalent experience.
Leadership & Stakeholder Responsibilities
The role works closely with operational stakeholders, Performance teams, Business Intelligence & Insight, Finance, Technology Data & Analytics, Technology Platform teams, Business Planning, operational leaders and PMO teams.
External relationships may include operational system providers, platform partners and external consultants.
The successful candidate will support BI Administrators while encouraging collaboration, accountability and shared ownership across teams.
