About the Data Analyst Role

The Data Analyst will help Homes England establish data and system requirements while embedding new tools and approaches to information analysis.

The successful candidate will work within the Data and Reporting function and contribute to the continued development of Homes England’s analytical capabilities.

What Homes England Is Looking For

Homes England is looking for someone with strong interpersonal and communication skills who can build effective relationships with Delivery Directorates and Corporate Functions.

You should be able to understand both operational and strategic reporting requirements and translate those requirements into effective data models and visualisations.

The successful candidate will help build and maintain a suite of self-service Power BI reports, adapting these reports as policies, programmes, technology and data architecture develop.

Key Responsibilities

1. Deliver Reporting Solutions

Deliver effective reporting solutions that improve automation, consistency and efficiency across the organisation.

2. Provide Data and BI Expertise

Provide subject matter expertise in:

• Data modelling.
• Data visualisation.
• Self-service reporting.
• Business intelligence.
• Reporting solutions.

You will also contribute to the growing community of practice in this area.

3. Design and Build MI Reports

Design and develop management information reports that:

• Tell a clear story.
• Provide meaningful business insights.
• Meet end-user requirements.
• Support data-led decision-making.

4. Maintain Business Intelligence Products

Improve and maintain high-priority Business Intelligence (BI) products to ensure they continue to meet business needs.

5. Work With Operational Teams

Work closely with Operational Management and front-line colleagues to understand their day-to-day reporting requirements.

6. Improve Data Quality

Identify:

• Data-quality problems.
• Missing information.
• Reporting issues.
• Data inconsistencies.

You will work with system owners and relevant teams to address these issues and support robust automated reporting.

7. Maintain Data Standards and Security

Implement agreed standards, including appropriate:

• Information security requirements.
• Data-quality standards.
• Change-management processes.
• Risk-management procedures.

The role will help ensure that intelligence and data products can be easily understood and appropriately managed.

8. Maintain Documentation and Assurance

Ensure appropriate data standards are met and provide clear documentation.

You will also ensure that analytical and reporting outputs are produced in accordance with the organisation’s assurance framework.

9. Support Cloud and Data Architecture Development

Work with wider Data and Analytical colleagues to take advantage of emerging opportunities in:

• Cloud technology.
• Data architecture.
• Self-service analytics.
• Modern data platforms.

You will also help promote self-service analytical capabilities across the organisation.
