About the role
Liverpool City Council is looking for an experienced Communications and Engagement Lead (Neighbourhoods) to join its Communications and Engagement team.
The successful candidate will help shape how the Council communicates and engages with residents, stakeholders and partners across important services, with a particular focus on:
- Neighbourhoods
- Highways and transport
- Active travel
- Parks and green spaces
- Community engagement
You will lead the development and delivery of integrated communications and engagement plans that support Council priorities and improve outcomes for residents.
The role involves working with neighbourhood teams, elected members, service leads, community organisations and other partners. You will also provide strategic communications advice to senior officers and members.
Key responsibilities
The successful applicant will be expected to:
- Develop and deliver communications and engagement plans.
- Design engagement approaches that reach diverse communities.
- Translate complex information into clear and accessible content.
- Build and manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Provide strategic communications advice to senior officers and elected members.
- Support communications and engagement across neighbourhood and related Council services.
- Manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work to tight deadlines.
Essential experience
Liverpool City Council is seeking someone with substantial experience in:
- Communications
- Engagement
- Public relations
- Marketing or a related discipline
- Community engagement activity
- Stakeholder relationship management
Excellent writing and storytelling skills are required, together with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
