About the Role

The College for National Security provides learning opportunities for Civil Service and wider public-sector professionals on national security threats and the actions needed to address them. It forms part of Government Skills and works closely with the National Security Secretariat.

As a Curriculum Officer, you will contribute to the development and delivery of learning programmes, helping ensure that training resources are accessible, engaging and effective.

The role combines learning administration, digital content development, learner support and performance evaluation. You will manage learning systems, support virtual and face-to-face training, analyse feedback and prepare reports to help improve the quality of learning provision.

Key Responsibilities

Learning Administration and Learner Support

  • Manage the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and oversee administrative tasks throughout the learner journey, from pre-course arrangements to post-course follow-up.
  • Support the administration and delivery of learning interventions, courses, seminars and events.
  • Help maintain a high standard of customer service for learners and stakeholders.

Digital Learning and Course Development

  • Support the creation of self-directed learning resources, including podcasts, guides and e-learning modules.
  • Use tools such as Articulate, Adobe and Canva to develop engaging learning materials.
  • Ensure digital learning resources meet accessibility requirements.
  • Manage the Learning Management System (LMS), including uploading, organising, reviewing and curating learning content.

Evaluation, Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Collect and analyse feedback from learning products and programmes.
  • Identify trends, strengths and areas requiring improvement.
  • Prepare evaluation reports and monthly performance dashboards for relevant boards.
  • Use evidence and feedback to support continuous improvement in learning delivery.

Essential Requirements

Applicants should demonstrate the following experience and skills:

  • Learning support and facilitation: Experience supporting different learning activities, including in-person courses, virtual training, seminars and events.
  • LMS, CRM and administration: Experience using learning management systems, customer relationship management systems or similar platforms. Training on specific systems will be provided.
  • Data analysis and reporting: Ability to analyse feedback, identify trends and prepare evaluation reports or performance dashboards.
  • IT skills: Confident use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint or Google Workspace.
  • Virtual collaboration: Experience using video-conferencing platforms such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
  • Travel flexibility: Willingness to travel to different venues for courses, recordings and team meetings, with advance notice provided.

Desirable Skills

The following would strengthen an application but are not listed as essential requirements:

  • Experience designing blended learning programmes.
  • Ability to create e-learning modules using Articulate Storyline, Rise 360 or Canva, or willingness to learn.
  • Understanding of government accessibility regulations for digital content, or willingness to develop this knowledge.
  • Experience producing video or audio learning materials.
  • Experience designing evaluation tools and analysing qualitative and quantitative feedback.
