  • Advise residents on tenancy matters, housing options, welfare benefits, budgeting and income maximisation to help them maintain their tenancies.
  • Work with statutory bodies, voluntary organisations and community partners to resolve complex housing issues and support residents with additional needs.
  • Participate in multi-agency meetings and make appropriate safeguarding referrals where necessary.
  • Engage with residents and community groups, providing information about social housing, private rented accommodation, mutual exchanges and other housing options.
  • Maintain accurate case records and management information, monitor performance against targets and contribute to reports and service improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with housing legislation, council policies, equality and diversity requirements, data protection, safeguarding and health and safety procedures.

Essential Skills and Experience

Candidates should demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Experience working in a housing management environment, with an understanding of tenancy management, relevant housing legislation and associated procedures.
  • Experience managing a varied caseload involving complex tenancy matters, complaints, customer enquiries and tenancy breaches.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, including the ability to handle sensitive or challenging situations professionally.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands, meet deadlines and maintain accurate records.
  • Experience working collaboratively with partner organisations and multi-agency teams to resolve housing-related issues.
  • The ability to provide clear advice on housing options, tenancy sustainment and relevant support services.
  • An understanding of safeguarding concerns and when to make appropriate referrals.
