About the Role

Lifetime Training is recruiting for a Front of House Apprentice in Leicester. The role involves providing friendly customer service, supporting front-of-house operations and assisting with food and beverage service.

The successful apprentice will also gain experience in areas including food safety, customer service, preparing drinks and basic kitchen duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome customers and provide a warm, friendly service.
• Establish whether customers are eating in or taking away and seat customers appropriately.
• Provide table service using a handheld device.
• Help customers choose from the food and drink menu.
• Answer questions about ingredients, allergens and intolerances using the café’s ingredient catalogue.
• Take accurate orders, including customer preferences and ingredient changes.
• Prepare hot and cold beverages following company recipes.
• Serve drinks, cakes, pastries and retail items.
• Process cash and contactless payments.
• Keep the barista station, counter and service areas clean and organised.
• Maintain stocks of clean mugs, plates, cutlery, napkins and other service items.
• Check and clean coffee machines and brewing equipment and report maintenance requirements.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and health & safety procedures.
• Communicate order changes to the kitchen and keep customers informed about delays.
• Clean and wipe tables between customers.
• Share customer feedback with the management team.

Additional Duties

The apprentice may also undertake light kitchen duties, including preparing simple hot and cold dishes from the breakfast and lunch menus.

Other duties include:

• Following assembly instructions to prepare meals safely and consistently.
• Completing opening and closing duties.
• Cleaning appliances and service areas.
• Sweeping floors and restocking supplies.
• Maintaining the customer and staff toilet.
• Completing simple monitoring and standard-purpose logs.
