About the Role
West London NHS Trust is recruiting an experienced and highly motivated Multi-Skilled Operative (Building) to join its Estates Department.
The successful candidate will help maintain hospital infrastructure, building fabric, fixtures, fittings and related facilities, ensuring the Trust’s estate remains safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
Main Responsibilities
- Repair and maintain hospital infrastructure and building fabric.
- Maintain fixtures and fittings.
- Carry out reactive maintenance.
- Perform planned and routine maintenance.
- Undertake new building-related works.
- Install, repair and maintain building components.
- Maintain finishes and decorations.
- Ensure work complies with statutory regulations.
- Follow Trust policies, standards and procedures.
- Apply relevant trade skills and technical knowledge.
Essential Skills
- Logical thinking and ability to work as part of a team.
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- High standards of workmanship.
Essential Qualifications
- Recognised apprenticeship or approved training scheme plus relevant experience.
- City & Guilds Part II, minimum NVQ Level 2, or another recognised qualification at the appropriate level.
Desirable Qualifications
- Health and Safety qualifications.
- Further relevant technical or professional qualifications.
Essential Experience
- General experience in carpentry or another building trade.
- Experience working within commercial or public-sector estate services.
- Significant experience across building trades.
- Good knowledge and high standards within the relevant field.
Desirable Experience
- Previous NHS experience.
- Experience across engineering trades.
