 Overview

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is recruiting a compassionate and motivated Senior Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) to join the Medical Assessment Unit at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

You’ll support Registered Nurses in delivering high-quality, person-centred care within an acute hospital environment while working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver compassionate patient care in the Acute Medical Unit
  • Monitor patient observations and vital signs
  • Assist with wound care, stoma care, and urinalysis
  • Support patient transfers and mobility
  • Maintain accurate patient records and confidentiality
  • Ensure infection prevention and health & safety compliance
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and clean clinical environment

Requirements

  • SVQ 3 qualification or equivalent healthcare experience
  • Understanding of infection control and health & safety procedures
  • Ability to work under supervision of Registered Nurses
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Caring and compassionate attitude
  • Willingness to work rotational day and night shifts

Working Pattern

  • 18–36 hours per week
  • 12-hour rotational shifts
  • Monday to Sunday
  • Day & Night shifts available
