About the Role

The University of Reading is seeking a dedicated and professional Halls Patroller to join its Security Team. This role involves helping to maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors across the university’s residential halls and campus facilities.

Successful candidates will work night shifts on a rotating schedule and play an important role in supporting student wellbeing, safeguarding vulnerable individuals, and responding to security incidents.

Key Responsibilities

• Patrol university halls of residence and campus facilities.
• Support the safety and wellbeing of students and staff.
• Respond promptly to security incidents and emergencies.
• Assist in managing disputes and security concerns.
• Monitor halls accommodating students under 18 years of age.
• Work closely with emergency services when required.
• Provide excellent customer service and community support.

Requirements

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for supporting a diverse and multicultural community.
• Interest in career development within the security sector.
• Full UK Manual Driving Licence (required).
• Ability to work night shifts and rotating schedules.
• Successful completion of a DBS check.
