The Opportunity
Arden University is seeking a skilled Moodle (PHP) Developer to join its Technology Department. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and enhancement of the university’s Moodle-based learning systems, helping to deliver exceptional digital learning experiences for students.
This position offers a primarily remote working arrangement with minimal travel to UK locations when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Moodle learning systems
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle
- Create and enhance Moodle plugins and integrations
- Collaborate with internal teams to deliver innovative digital solutions
- Support system performance, security, and scalability
- Contribute to continuous improvement and best practices in software development
Required Skills and Experience
Applicants should possess most of the following:
- Experience with Moodle plugin development
- Mobile application development knowledge
- Strong understanding of software development principles and best practices
- Advanced PHP development skills using Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
- Experience with Design Patterns
- Agile development methodology experience
- Knowledge of REST APIs and HTTP protocols
- Experience using XDebug and PHPUnit
- Linux command-line skills, including Bash/Shell scripting
