About the Role
As a Health Care Assistant, you will provide daily care and emotional support to children and young adults with complex needs, developmental disabilities, autism, learning disabilities, behavioural challenges, or additional support needs.
You’ll play an important role in promoting independence, improving wellbeing, and creating a safe, nurturing environment where young people can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide emotional support and positive behaviour management.
- Assist with daily living activities and personal development.
- Prepare meals and support mealtimes.
- Plan engaging educational and recreational activities.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming home.
- Complete care records and incident reports accurately.
- Support appointments, education, and community activities.
- Promote independence while safeguarding young people.
- Act as a positive role model and advocate.
Person Specification
Applicants should have:
- Compassionate and patient attitude.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently when required.
- Commitment to safeguarding and confidentiality.
- Previous care experience is desirable but not essential.
- Experience in childcare, supported living, youth work, education, hospitality, retail, customer service, coaching, or similar people-focused roles is welcomed.
- Personal caring experience is also valued.
- A valid UK driving licence is preferred.
Essential Requirements
- Must be aged 18 or over.
- Must have lived in the UK for at least 3 years.
- Willingness to work alternate weekends.
- Ability to provide previous employment references where applicable.
