Job Overview
The Welsh Government is recruiting Vetting Team Support Officers to join its Departmental Security Unit. This permanent opportunity is ideal for organised and detail-oriented professionals who enjoy administration, customer service, and working with confidential information.
The successful candidates will support pre-employment screening and National Security Vetting (NSV), ensuring applicants meet government security requirements while delivering an excellent customer experience.

Job Location
- Wales
- Team day every Wednesday in the Cardiff office
- Second office day can be worked from another Welsh Government office where appropriate
Key Responsibilities
- Process Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks
- Verify applicant identity and Right to Work documentation
- Arrange and conduct manual identity verification appointments
- Process DBS checks
- Initiate National Security Vetting applications (SC, DV and CTC)
- Complete departmental records checks
- Produce security clearance certificates
- Prepare vetting clearance letters
- Process vetting renewals
- Support onboarding security requirements
- Coordinate clearance transfers
- Process employee and contractor leavers
- Maintain accurate records using vetting systems and the Pobl system
- Respond professionally to customer enquiries
- Escalate complex or high-risk cases when required
