Job Summary

The Government Property Agency is looking for a DevOps Engineer to join its PropTech team.

You will work alongside skilled engineers, software developers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver user-centred digital services.

The successful candidate will help ensure that services are deployed continuously, monitored effectively, and remain resilient, scalable and highly available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement resilient, scalable and highly available services.
  • Automate tasks, deployments and testing using infrastructure as code.
  • Provide technical support across a range of digital products and services.
  • Work closely with software developers and engineering teams.
  • Help establish and maintain modern deployment standards and DevOps practices.
  • Support sustainable digital product development.

  • Experience setting up services in public cloud environments using infrastructure as code.
  • Experience troubleshooting web applications, including systems, networks and databases.
  • Understanding of networking and web application security, including TCP, HTTP, DNS and SSL.
  • Experience with modern development workflows such as Git and CI/CD, ideally using GitHub.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary agile teams.
  • Experience with containerised applications and running them using an orchestrator, ideally Kubernetes.
  • Enthusiasm for knowledge sharing, mentoring and leading by example.

Salary & Benefits

The role offers:

  • £42,450 – £46,636 annual salary.
  • Higher starting salary of £46,000 may be available.
  • Recruitment and Retention Allowance of up to £5,000 for candidates with the required skills and experience.
  • Additional £5,000 non-pensionable allowance for eligible staff holding relevant Gold Standard accreditation.

Sift

The sift is expected to take place during the week commencing 3 September 2026.

Interview

Interviews are normally held face-to-face, with virtual interviews available only by exception.

The process includes an initial screening call followed, if successful, by a final in-person interview.

Security Clearance

Successful candidates must obtain Security Check (SC) clearance.

Applicants will normally need to have met the required UK residency period for SC vetting, which is generally 5 years of UK residency immediately prior to the vetting application.
