About the SACT Day Services Role

The Sister / Charge Nurse will play a central role in supporting patients throughout their cancer treatment journey.

The service includes:

• Systemic anti-cancer treatment

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating patient care
• Coordinating the day-to-day management of the SACT unit
• Providing clinical leadership
• Supporting the Senior Sister, Charge Nurse and Matron
• Deputising for senior nursing staff when required
• Supporting SACT outreach sites across Greater Manchester
• Managing and motivating Band 5, Band 4 and Band 3 staff
• Monitoring mandatory training and appraisal requirements
• Promoting patient safety and quality of care
• Acting as a professional role model
• Supporting multidisciplinary working
• Safely administering SACT
• Managing SACT reactions and adverse reactions
• Maintaining accurate patient documentation
• Educating patients and families
• Supporting clinical governance and risk management
• Participating in audit and evidence-based practice
• Supporting junior staff
• Supporting newly qualified nurses and new starters

Clinical Responsibilities

The role involves specialist nursing care for patients undergoing systemic anti-cancer treatment.
