JOB OVERVIEW
An excellent opportunity is available for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming primary school in Bordesley, Birmingham (B9), supporting pupils within a dedicated SEN Hub.
The successful candidate will support pupils across KS1 and KS2 with SEMH, behavioural needs, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), communication difficulties and additional learning needs.
The SEN Hub provides a nurturing environment where pupils receive targeted interventions before working towards successful reintegration into mainstream classrooms.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide tailored 1-to-1 and small-group support.
- Support pupils with SEMH, behavioural and additional learning needs.
- Help pupils reintegrate into mainstream classrooms.
- Deliver targeted interventions to improve engagement and confidence.
- Implement behaviour-support strategies.
- Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
- Work alongside teachers, the SENCO and pastoral team.
- Support EHCP outcomes where required.
- Promote resilience, independence and positive behaviour.
- Maintain a calm, structured and inclusive environment.
- Help pupils access the curriculum according to their individual needs.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience supporting children with SEMH, behavioural needs or SEN.
- Experience in a primary school, SEN Hub, resource base or specialist provision.
- Strong behaviour-management and de-escalation skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
- Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
- Understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
- Knowledge of emotional regulation.
- Trauma-informed practice.
- Experience supporting EHCP outcomes.
- Small-group intervention experience.
- Experience supporting reintegration into mainstream education.
