The hospital has:

  • 12-bed PICU ward
  • 15-bed Acute ward
  • Full multi-disciplinary team

The hospital supports adults requiring rapid access to mental health services, including individuals who may require an intensive care environment.

About Cygnet Hospital Wolverhampton

Cygnet Hospital Wolverhampton is a specialist PICU and Acute Hospital for men in the West Midlands.

The hospital has:

  • 12-bed PICU ward
  • 17-bed Acute ward
  • Full multi-disciplinary team

The service supports adults requiring rapid access to mental health services, including people who may require an intensive care environment.

Experience Required

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet one of the following:

  • At least 1 year of mental health experience in an Acute or PICU setting, OR
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in mental health in any setting

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health support to adults within an Acute or PICU hospital setting.
  • Provide enhanced care through a flexible learning approach.
  • Work closely with the nursing team to meet patients’ therapeutic needs.
  • Provide physical and emotional support.
  • Offer guidance and encouragement.
  • Understand individuals’ specific needs and provide appropriate assistance.
  • Maintain patients’ rights and dignity at all times.
  • Report medical and welfare needs when required.
  • Safeguard patients and visitors.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Support innovative approaches to improve patient care.
  • Support service users with acute mental health needs.
  • Report relevant information or concerns to qualified staff.
  • Promote service-user independence and recovery.
