About the Waste Management Officer Role
Somerset Council is seeking a Waste Management Officer to join its Waste Services team in Taunton.
The Waste Services team plays an important role in keeping Somerset clean, safe and sustainable. The team works with residents, contractors and partners to provide high-quality waste collection and recycling services while encouraging positive environmental behaviours within local communities.
As a Waste Management Officer, you will help ensure waste and recycling services are delivered effectively across Somerset.
You will work collaboratively with contractors, residents and colleagues to resolve operational issues, improve service performance and support ongoing service improvements.
Key Responsibilities
As a Waste Management Officer, your responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring waste collection and recycling services to help maintain high standards.
- Supporting improvements in waste and recycling service performance across Somerset.
- Working with contractors, partners and internal teams to resolve service issues.
- Helping deliver positive outcomes for residents and local communities.
- Supporting residents to recycle more and reduce waste.
- Providing engagement, education and behaviour-change support to residents.
- Investigating service complaints and operational concerns.
- Identifying practical solutions to service problems.
- Using performance information and local knowledge to support service improvements.
