About the Healthcare Support Worker Role

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Healthcare Support Worker to join the Adult Cardiac Critical Care Unit at the Barts Heart Centre, based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.

The Barts Heart Centre is a specialist cardiac hospital providing care to elective and emergency patients, including patients admitted through the busy heart attack centre.

The successful candidate will work alongside registered nurses and other members of the clinical team to help provide a safe, compassionate and high-quality environment for patients receiving critical care.

Excellent communication skills, a compassionate approach and the ability to remain calm in a pressured environment are important for this position.

Main Responsibilities

The successful Healthcare Support Worker will:

• Support registered nurses in providing a safe and caring environment.
• Provide compassionate, patient-focused support within the critical-care environment.
• Work as part of a diverse multidisciplinary team.
• Support the Ward Manager and wider team in maintaining and improving quality of care.
• Contribute to the development of the service and the achievement of Trust objectives and values.
• Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and colleagues.
• Respect patients’ physical, psychological, cultural and social needs.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with relevant data-protection requirements.
• Organise and manage workload under appropriate supervision.

Working Pattern

This is a 24-hour service.

Successful candidates must be prepared to work:
