About the role

Liverpool City Council is recruiting an Operative – Recycling and Waste to support the delivery of frontline waste services across the city, including domestic, recycling and food waste collections.

The role involves working as part of the Recycling and Waste Service to ensure collections are completed safely, efficiently and within the required service targets.

Key responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Carry out waste collections across Liverpool using manual and mechanical methods.
  • Present waste items for collection using appropriate tools and safe manual-handling techniques.
  • Safely operate vehicle loading mechanisms where required.
  • Return waste receptacles to their original position after collection.
  • Complete multiple collections each day in line with service targets.
  • Work closely with colleagues to maintain high service standards.
  • Work outdoors throughout the year.
  • Undertake repetitive tasks and periods of walking.

Working hours and allowance

The role is worked Monday to Friday, 6:30am to 2:00pm.

An Irregular Hours Allowance of £663.62 per year applies.
