About the Role

Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council is recruiting a Service Support Assistant – SEWAS to join the South East Wales Adoption Service at Mamhilad.

This is a permanent, part-time opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic administrator who can support a busy adoption service. The successful applicant will be expected to work from the SEWAS office at least one day each week.

The role involves maintaining electronic filing systems and databases, including Civica and WCCIS, as well as providing administrative support for complex meetings connected with adoption services.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining electronic filing systems and databases.
  • Working with systems including Civica and WCCIS.
  • Coordinating complex meetings relating to adoption services.
  • Providing administrative support for Adoption Panels.
  • Taking accurate minutes during meetings.
  • Transcribing meeting minutes within required timescales.
  • Supporting the wider SEWAS team with administrative duties.
  • Managing workload effectively and meeting deadlines in a busy service environment.

Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Experience carrying out administrative duties in an office environment.
  • The ability to work independently and use their own initiative.
  • The ability to meet deadlines and required timescales.
  • Strong typing or keyboarding skills.
  • Five GCSEs at grades A–C or equivalent.

An NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification would be desirable. A commitment to work towards achieving an NVQ Level 3 would also be considered.

Working Pattern

This is a part-time role of 22.5 hours per week.

The successful candidate will be required to work from the SEWAS office at Mamhilad for a minimum of one day per week.

Eligibility and Pre-Employment Checks
