Communication & Training Officer
Bradford Council is recruiting a Communication & Training Officer to join its Customer & Business Support Team within the Hackney Carriage & Private Hire Licensing Service.
The service is responsible for the licensing, inspection and enforcement of Hackney Carriage and Private Hire drivers, vehicles and operators across the Bradford District, with a focus on promoting public safety.
This role is suited to someone with safeguarding knowledge and experience, strong communication skills and the ability to work confidently with members of the public, licence holders, public services and other stakeholders.

About the Role
The successful candidate will support the development and delivery of safeguarding training packages for prospective and existing licence holders. Training will be delivered through different formats, including e-learning, with content selected and adapted for the relevant target audience.
The role will also involve working with a wide range of stakeholders, members of the public and the taxi and private hire trade, as well as liaising with other authorities to share best practice and experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver safeguarding training packages, including e-learning.
- Review and select appropriate training content for different audiences.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
- Support specific projects and attend meetings as required.
- Deal regularly with members of the public and the taxi/private hire trade.
- Prepare non-standard letters and create letter and email templates.
- Train staff in the use of communication templates.
- Respond to complaints and enquiries from service users, members of the public, elected members and public services, including the police.
- Manage and prioritise your own workload effectively.
- Carry out investigations where necessary and communicate outcomes.
- Handle private, confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
- Respond to FOI, SAR, NR3 and associated requests.
- Ensure data protection, information security, evidence integrity and regulatory requirements are maintained.
Skills and Experience
The council is looking for someone with safeguarding knowledge and experience, alongside good written and verbal communication skills.
The successful applicant should be able to communicate confidential and sensitive information diplomatically to a range of audiences and build effective working relationships with different stakeholders.
