About the role
The successful candidate will work with the Business Intelligence Lead and experienced colleagues to help develop and maintain DCMS’s Corporate Business Intelligence Platform.
The platform includes a data warehouse and a suite of dashboards supporting users across areas including Finance and HR. DCMS currently uses Looker Studio as its primary reporting platform and is preparing to migrate to Power BI.
The role will involve helping to design and deliver reports, dashboards and data processes, while also supporting data integration and improvements to the quality, accessibility and usability of corporate data.
The postholder will also support DCMS’s transition from a Google-based environment to Microsoft 365, helping adapt and replicate existing reporting, analytical and automation processes.
Key responsibilities
You will:
- Support the development and maintenance of the Corporate BI Platform.
- Help develop reports, dashboards and data processes.
- Work with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements.
- Support data integration activities.
- Help improve corporate data quality, accessibility and usability.
- Contribute to the migration from Google-based tools to Microsoft 365.
- Work with technologies including Looker Studio and Power BI.
- Use data, automation and emerging technologies to support wider business challenges.
- Work independently while contributing to a small, collaborative BI team.
Essential requirements
Applicants should have:
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and dimensional data modelling.
- The ability to use SQL to extract, transform and analyse data across complex datasets.
- Experience creating reports, dashboards or data visualisations using tools such as Power BI, Looker Studio, Tableau or similar.
- The ability to gather and analyse stakeholder requirements and deliver effective reporting solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain technical information to non-technical audiences.
Desirable skills
The following would also be beneficial:
- Understanding of data integration and data pipeline concepts, including ETL/ELT.
- Experience with workflow automation tools such as Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate and Power Apps.
- Experience with Google Apps Script.
