About the Role
HM Courts and Tribunals Service is seeking experienced Lead Interaction Designers to lead design across highly complex justice services, including criminal, civil and family courts, tribunals, and cross-government digital services.
Successful candidates will influence design strategy, mentor multidisciplinary teams, establish design standards, and champion user-centred design throughout the organisation.
This role is ideal for senior UX and interaction design professionals who are passionate about delivering accessible, inclusive and evidence-based digital services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead interaction design across multiple complex digital services.
- Define and implement user-centred design standards.
- Influence digital strategy across HMCTS.
- Coach, mentor and develop Interaction Designers.
- Promote accessibility and inclusive design principles.
- Work closely with Product Managers, User Researchers and Software Developers.
- Build and support Communities of Practice.
- Lead design thinking workshops.
- Collaborate across government departments.
- Champion continuous improvement and innovation.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Extensive experience in Interaction Design and User-Centred Design.
- Experience leading designers and developing design capability.
- Strong understanding of accessibility and inclusive design.
- Experience designing complex digital services.
- Ability to produce high-quality design concepts and prototypes.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience influencing strategic decisions using design thinking.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience designing large-scale digital platforms.
- Experience working within technical or government environments.
