About the Role
Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Band 7 Social Worker with Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) status to join the East Assertive Outreach Team (AOT).
The successful candidate will provide social work across hospital inpatient and community settings, including social supervision of restricted community patients under Ministry of Justice requirements.
The role involves working as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) providing an assertive service to people across Birmingham.
East AOT is operating in a changing environment, so the successful applicant will need to demonstrate flexibility and be prepared to work across different sites where required.
Key Responsibilities
As a Band 7 Social Worker, you will be responsible for:
- Undertaking the role and responsibilities of a Social Supervisor in accordance with Ministry of Justice guidelines.
- Working alongside the Clinical Supervisor to support service users.
- Supporting effective risk management.
- Preparing Social Circumstances Reports.
- Attending Mental Health Act Tribunals and Managers’ Hearings.
- Providing specialist social care expertise to multidisciplinary teams.
- Supporting effective discharge planning for patients.
- Working with service users to help them achieve their recovery goals.
- Providing support and interventions to families and carers.
- Working across inpatient and outpatient services.
- Promoting diversity, equality and human rights within social work practice.
- Acting as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP).
- Participating in the Birmingham City Council city-wide AMHP rota, currently approximately one day per month.
- Holding and coordinating a caseload of up to eight individuals.
- Maintaining appropriate clinical and professional boundaries.
