About the Role
The successful candidate will deliver professional barbering services to patients within a secure forensic mental health environment.
You will provide a welcoming, respectful and person-centred service while maintaining strict hygiene, infection prevention, security, safeguarding and confidentiality standards.
Main Responsibilities
Barbering & Patient Care
- Provide professional haircuts to patients.
- Trim beards and moustaches.
- Provide shampooing and styling services.
- Offer advice on hairstyles and hair and scalp care.
- Consult patients about their grooming preferences.
- Promote dignity, confidence and wellbeing.
- Maintain a professional and welcoming environment.
Hygiene & Safety
- Clean, disinfect and sterilise barbering equipment as required.
- Safely store and maintain barbering tools.
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures.
- Comply with NHS health and safety requirements.
- Follow security procedures within the high-secure environment.
Patients’ Shop Duties
- Serve customers.
- Operate the EPOS till system.
- Replenish stock.
- Price goods.
- Process patient orders.
- Support stock control and stocktaking.
- Maintain accurate records.
Teamwork & Confidentiality
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Support wider Rehabilitation Services when required.
- Maintain excellent customer service.
- Follow safeguarding procedures.
- Protect confidential patient information.
- Comply with NHS data protection, GDPR and Trust policies.
Essential Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Barbering or Hairdressing.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in a health or social care setting.

- Experience supporting people with additional support needs.

- Professional barbering experience.
