About the Role
The GP Assistant will provide administrative and secretarial support to GPs and other clinicians.
The role is designed to help reduce the administrative workload of clinicians, improve clinical capacity and support the efficient delivery of patient care.
You will work closely with GPs, clinicians and the wider practice team.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing administrative support to GPs and other clinicians.
- Managing patient correspondence and clinical documentation.
- Completing administrative tasks accurately and within agreed timescales.
- Responding to patient and clinician queries relating to patient care, treatment and referrals.
- Escalating queries appropriately when required.
- Undertaking audio and non-audio typing of letters, reports, referrals, forms and other clinical documentation.
- Answering telephone calls and dealing appropriately with patient, clinical and external stakeholder queries.
- Supporting GPs and clinicians with the administration and coordination of patient care.
- Helping reduce clinicians’ administrative workload and improve clinical capacity.
- Processing referrals and supporting the management of electronic referrals.
- Booking, changing and cancelling appointments and referrals where required.
- Liaising with hospitals, community services and other external stakeholders regarding patient referrals.
