About the Role
The UK Department for Education is recruiting experienced DevOps Engineers to support critical education funding platforms responsible for distributing over £85 billion in funding across England.
This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale cloud infrastructure, DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes platforms, and Azure cloud technologies while contributing to nationally important services.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure and DevOps platforms.
- Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines and automation processes.
- Support Azure cloud services and containerized environments.
- Implement DevSecOps principles and security controls.
- Assist with migration from legacy systems to modern cloud-native platforms.
- Support incident management and service reliability improvements.
- Collaborate with architects, cybersecurity teams, and delivery teams.
- Contribute to engineering standards and best practices.
Essential Requirements
- Experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Platform Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and DevSecOps practices.
- Understanding of security, reliability, and risk management.
- Experience supporting cloud transformation or migration projects.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable Skills
- Microsoft Azure experience.
- Kubernetes or Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Government or regulated-sector experience.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Internal developer platforms and reusable engineering patterns.
- Mentoring and supporting junior engineers.
