About the Employer

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) protects people from infectious diseases, environmental hazards, and other health threats. This role sits within the UK Overseas Territories (UKOTs) Health Security Programme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).

The programme strengthens health systems across the UK Overseas Territories through health promotion, disease prevention, public health intelligence, and emergency preparedness.

About the Role

As a Public Health Project Officer, you will support the delivery of international public health programmes focusing on:

  • Health promotion
  • Non-communicable diseases
  • Mental health and wellbeing
  • Healthy behaviours
  • Vulnerable populations
  • Community resilience

You will coordinate projects, engage with stakeholders, provide technical support, monitor programme delivery, and contribute to improving public health outcomes across the UK Overseas Territories.

Occasional international travel may be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate public health projects and programme activities.
  • Provide technical support on public health priorities.
  • Develop project plans and schedules.
  • Monitor project performance and produce reports.
  • Organise meetings, prepare agendas, and write minutes.
  • Build relationships with UK and international partners.
  • Monitor project risks and compliance.
  • Support programme implementation across multiple workstreams.
  • Contribute to evidence-based public health initiatives.

Essential Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • A Master’s degree in Public Health or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience delivering public health or healthcare improvement programmes.
  • Experience working on international projects.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience analysing and interpreting data.
  • Knowledge of community engagement and health promotion.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Working knowledge of project management methodologies.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience managing project risks and governance.
  • Knowledge of recognised project management methodologies.
  • Experience supporting organisational change.

Working Pattern

This is a hybrid position based in Canary Wharf, London.

Employees are expected to work approximately 60% of their contracted hours in the office (around three days per week).
