About the Role

This Junior Clinical Fellow position has been designed to provide high-quality clinical exposure and professional development in Urology. The successful candidates will participate in weekday clinical activities alongside an on-call rota while working within a supportive NHS teaching hospital.

Although this is a Clinical Fellow post and does not attract a National Training Number (NTN), it offers outstanding specialty experience and can significantly strengthen future applications for Core Surgical Training or Specialty Training.

The timetable can also be tailored to maximise preparation for national selection interviews and career progression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, effective urology patient care.
  • Participate in weekday clinical sessions.
  • Join a 1:6 on-call rota.
  • Assess and manage urological patients.
  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Participate in departmental teaching and training activities.
  • Support service improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation.
  • Follow NHS clinical governance and patient safety standards.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • Current GMC registration with a licence to practise.
  • Completion of UK Foundation Training (or equivalent).
  • Training in Radiation Protection or willingness to attend the next available course.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Intercalated Degree.
  • Academic awards, distinctions or prizes.

Essential Experience

  • Completion of Foundation Training.
  • Current knowledge of modern medical practice.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience managing urological emergencies.
  • Previous Urology Department experience (minimum 4 months).
  • Clinical audit experience.
  • Medical teaching experience.
