About the Role

As a PMO/Project Support Officer, you will support Project Managers in delivering complex government programmes. You will coordinate project activities, maintain project controls, monitor progress, manage documentation, and work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Successful candidates will join the Ministry of Justice Project Delivery Function and may be assigned to different projects based on business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Planning and Scheduling
  • Support project planning activities.
  • Maintain project schedules and timelines.
  • Coordinate project meetings and milestones.
Monitoring and Reporting
  • Produce project performance reports.
  • Track project progress.
  • Maintain project documentation and dashboards.
  • Present project statistics.
Administration
  • Organise meetings and prepare agendas.
  • Take meeting minutes.
  • Support project boards.
  • Ensure compliance with departmental policies.
  • Assist with Health & Safety, Equality, Security and Business Continuity requirements.
Resource Management
  • Coordinate project resources.
  • Support workforce planning.
  • Procure project supplies within delegated authority.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Draft professional correspondence.
  • Coordinate communications across project teams.
Financial Management
  • Monitor project budgets.
  • Assist with business case preparation.
  • Maintain project asset registers.
Risk and Issue Management
  • Monitor project risks.
  • Maintain risk and issue logs.
  • Escalate significant risks where appropriate.
Digital and Data
  • Collect and analyse project data.
  • Use Microsoft Office and digital tools to produce reports.
  • Support evidence-based project decision making.
Line Management
  • Manage Project Delivery professionals where required.
  • Support staff development through coaching and mentoring.
  • Promote project management standards.

Essential Requirements

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • Experience supporting project delivery.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience monitoring risks, budgets and project performance.

Office Attendance

This is not a fully remote role.

Successful candidates will:

  • Attend the office at least 60% of working time.
  • Travel regularly to Ministry of Justice project locations.
  • Be based at the nearest suitable MoJ office.
