About the Role
NHS Borders is seeking a flexible, enthusiastic, and organised Ward Clerk to support the newly established Frailty Unit at Borders General Hospital.
The successful applicant will provide essential clerical and administrative support while acting as the first point of contact at the nurses’ station. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a busy healthcare environment and delivering excellent customer service to patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clerical and administrative support to the Frailty Unit.
- Manage reception duties at the nurses’ station.
- Answer telephone calls professionally.
- Welcome patients, visitors, and carers.
- Respond to face-to-face enquiries.
- Relay information accurately to clinical staff.
- Maintain confidential patient records.
- Support daily ward administration.
- Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Liaise with Social Work, the Scottish Ambulance Service, voluntary organisations, and other healthcare agencies.
