About the Data Engineer Role

Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Data Engineer to join its Central Business Intelligence Data Engineering Team.

The successful candidate will help design, develop, implement and optimise data pipelines and data warehouse solutions supporting the Trust’s data, analytics, reporting and business intelligence requirements.

This is a 12-month development secondment providing an opportunity to work with both an established SQL Server data warehouse and a modern cloud-based Snowflake platform as part of the Trust’s Data Platform Modernisation Programme.

Main Purpose of the Job

The Data Engineer will assist with the design, implementation and optimisation of data pipelines used to load and maintain data warehouses supporting the Trust’s data and analytics requirements.

The role will involve working with data originating from multiple sources, including:

  • Clinical systems
  • Electronic Patient Record systems
  • Electronic Staff Records
  • Finance systems
  • Internal data sources
  • External data sources

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will:

  • Develop, test and implement solutions within SQL Server environments.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines.
  • Design scalable data ingestion, transformation and loading processes.
  • Work with SQL Server databases and data warehouse environments.
  • Support data integration from multiple internal and external sources.
  • Develop high-quality data models for reporting and dashboards.
  • Support migration of existing pipelines and reporting objects to Snowflake.
  • Contribute to the Trust’s Data Platform Modernisation Programme.
  • Support Data Quality Improvement Project deliverables.

Business Intelligence and Reporting

The Data Engineer will work closely with analytical teams and business users to develop effective reporting and dashboarding solutions.

  • Supporting Power BI and Tableau requirements.
