About Cygnet Hospital Beckton
Cygnet Hospital Beckton provides secure mental health services for women across four specialist wards, including:
- Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

About the Role
The successful candidate will work alongside qualified nursing staff and the wider multidisciplinary team to support patients throughout their inpatient journey.
The role involves supporting admission, assessment, treatment implementation and discharge while maintaining dignity, safety and wellbeing.
Working Hours & Shifts
The role averages 38.5 hours per week.
You will work 11-hour shifts on a rota basis.
Day shifts: 7:30am–8:00pm
Night shifts: 7:30pm–8:00am
Candidates must be willing to complete mandatory training and induction, including restraint training.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the multidisciplinary team in implementing treatment and therapy from patient care plans.
- Provide support to qualified nurses.
- Undertake safe patient observations, including one-to-one observations where required.
- Meet patients’ physical and emotional needs with care and empathy.
- Support patients’ physical and mental wellbeing.
- Participate in individual and group activities.
- Maintain a safe, clean and positive environment.
- Work within safeguarding guidelines.
- Complete de-escalation and PMVA training.
- Support patients who may display challenging or aggressive behaviours.
- Promote dignity, safety and person-centred care.
