About the Role

The Assistant Domestic Manager will become a key member of the Domestic Management Team at Liverpool Women’s Hospital.

The role has a strong focus on staff wellbeing, sickness absence coordination, administration, staffing levels and domestic service management.

The successful candidate will act as the first point of contact for domestic staff reporting sickness and will be responsible for accurately recording absence information, maintaining confidential records and producing reports for management and HR.

You will also support managers with sickness absence procedures, return-to-work processes, occupational health referrals and the identification of absence patterns or concerns.

Alongside the wellbeing and absence responsibilities, the post holder will provide administrative support to the Domestic Services team and assist with maintaining appropriate staffing levels through roster coordination and cover arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Domestic Manager will be responsible for:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for sickness absence reporting within Domestic Services.
  • Accurately recording staff sickness absence in accordance with NHS policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information.
  • Monitoring absence levels and identifying patterns or areas of concern.
  • Supporting supervisors and managers with return-to-work meetings.
  • Ensuring sickness absence is managed in accordance with Trust procedures.
  • Supporting managers when absence trigger points are reached.
  • Arranging occupational health referrals where appropriate.
  • Supporting staff in accessing relevant wellbeing resources.
  • Producing regular sickness and absence reports for management and HR.
  • Attending sickness and wellbeing meetings.
  • Updating rotas and coordinating staffing cover when required.
  • Maintaining spreadsheets, databases and other administrative records.

Domestic Services and Healthcare Standards

The successful candidate will work closely with managers across Estates and Facilities and the wider Trust to help ensure cleaning services are delivered to the required standards.

The Domestic team plays an important role in maintaining safe and effective hospital environments. The post holder will therefore need an understanding of domestic cleaning operations, Health and Safety requirements and relevant NHS standards.

Knowledge of COSHH, infection control, domestic cleaning procedures and Health and Safety will be particularly relevant to the position.

Requirements and Person Specification
