About the Role

The University of Manchester is seeking a motivated and collaborative Data and Analytics Administrator to join its People Services team.

The successful candidate will support the University’s statutory, strategic and operational reporting requirements by working with data from multiple systems. The role involves using Power BI, Oracle reporting tools and other in-house systems to analyse, interpret and present information that helps stakeholders make informed decisions.

This is a permanent hybrid opportunity combining on-campus and remote working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and monitor reports supporting statutory, strategic and operational reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to reporting requirements including HESA, Office for Students (OfS) and Office for National Statistics (ONS) returns.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into effective reporting and analytics solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, systems and decision-making.
  • Investigate and resolve data quality issues, working with business teams and IT colleagues where necessary.
  • Support activities associated with the HESA Staff Return, ensuring information is accurate, complete and submitted on time.
  • Act as a first point of contact for reporting and data-related escalations.
  • Assess, prioritise and troubleshoot reporting issues, resolving problems where possible and escalating more complex matters appropriately.

Requirements / Person Specification

Candidates should be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience using data analytics and reporting tools to manipulate, analyse and interpret data across systems and applications.
  • Experience producing business intelligence, management information and actionable insights.
  • Experience using Power BI and/or Oracle reporting tools and developing and maintaining reports for business stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders who have different levels of technical and data literacy.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality reporting and documentation.
  • Practical knowledge of data protection principles and the appropriate handling of personal and sensitive information.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working in the Higher Education sector.
  • Knowledge of operational processes relating to Human Resources, Payroll and Pensions.
