The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is recruiting 55 permanent UCR Operational Team Leaders to join its Universal Credit Case Review (UCR) operation.
This Higher Executive Officer (HEO) role involves leading and coaching a team responsible for reviewing Universal Credit claims, ensuring customers receive the correct entitlement and supporting DWP’s work to reduce fraud and error.

About the Role
As a UCR Operational Team Leader, you will lead and manage a team involved in reviewing Universal Credit claims and customers’ circumstances.
The work is designed to ensure claimants receive the correct level of benefit entitlement while supporting DWP’s wider efforts to reduce fraud and error within the social security system.
The role combines people leadership, coaching, performance management, quality assurance, decision-making and customer service.
You will work with colleagues and stakeholders to deliver UCR activity effectively and support a diverse claimant base.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, coaching and developing a team of UCR agents.
- Ensuring team members understand Universal Credit Review processes and objectives.
- Monitoring team performance and carrying out Tier 1 quality assurance.
- Managing workloads and prioritising work across the team.
- Dealing with escalations and complex queries.
- Coaching agents to analyse information and conduct effective claimant interviews.
- Ensuring agents accurately record outcomes on departmental systems.
- Supporting corrective actions where required.
- Building effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Contributing flexibly and proactively to the ongoing development of the role.
- Managing and coaching team members through face-to-face and virtual communication methods, including Microsoft Teams and telephone.

Hybrid Working
The role may be suitable for hybrid working, depending on business and individual circumstances.
Where hybrid working is agreed, employees must be able to work at their designated DWP office at least 60% of their contracted hours.
Hybrid working is voluntary and non-contractual, and the contractual place of work remains the relevant DWP office.
Salary and Benefits
The salary is £38,772 to £45,065, depending on location.
DWP also contributes towards membership of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension Scheme, with the advert stating an employer contribution of 28.97%.

Visa Sponsorship / Right to Work
