About the Role

North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for a 12-month Band 6 secondment as a Critical Care Educator, based primarily at Peterborough City Hospital.

The role is suited to an experienced Critical Care nurse who is passionate about teaching, education and supporting the development of clinical staff.

Working alongside the Band 7 Critical Care Educators, the successful candidate will help deliver training and education relating to the care of critically ill patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate training, education and support for clinical staff working with critically ill patients.
• Support education requirements arising from Critical Care projects extending into ward areas.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary education and teaching.
• Support induction for registered and unregistered staff.
• Identify staff who require additional support with competence or confidence.
• Monitor and help maintain compliance with mandatory and local Critical Care competencies.
• Deliver education supporting national Critical Care competency and education frameworks.
• Help identify training gaps through training needs analysis.
• Support staff development and maintenance of required competencies.

Essential Qualifications

• NMC Registered Nurse.
• Supervisor/Assessor status or Mentorship qualification.
• Post-registration Critical Care qualification.

Essential Experience

• At least two years’ experience working within Critical Care.
• Evidence of formal and informal teaching activities.
• Evidence of personal CPD.
• Ability to act as a role model for high-level nursing practice and demonstrate clinical expertise within Critical Care.

Desirable

• Leadership qualification.
• PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Experience with evidence-based project work and change management.
